The problem we started with
Preconstruction is where a commercial GC wins or loses a job — and it almost always runs on a stack of spreadsheets, PDF markups, and email threads held together by tribal knowledge. Solicitation lives in one place, scope in another, leveling in a third, and the moment something changes, half of it goes stale. The estimator carries the whole thing in their head.
The platforms that dominate this industry are built to manage a project after it is won. The weeks before the award — the part that actually decides the margin — get left to whatever the team can cobble together.
What we are building
Ovicon is a preconstruction operating system: one pipeline that follows the real bid-to-award workflow, from project setup through solicitation, scoping, bid leveling, and award. Vendor bids come in as PDFs and come out as structured, comparable line items. Scope coverage is visible instead of remembered. The award decision is documented as it is made, not reconstructed afterward.
We are deliberately starting narrow. The companies that won this category — Procore, Bluebeam, Buildertrend — all started by solving one workflow deeply, then expanding. We are doing the same thing, starting with the part of the job we know best.
Insider-built
Every feature is tested against how estimators actually work — not against a generic idea of "project management."
Narrow on purpose
We solve preconstruction deeply before we go wide. Depth in the bid is the wedge.
Built to be trusted
Your bid data is commercially sensitive. Security and tenant isolation are foundational, not features.
Where we are
Ovicon LLC is a Minnesota company founded by Austin Patterson, who builds the platform, and John Kramer, whose preconstruction doctrine — built over decades in commercial GC preconstruction — is the backbone of how the product reads a planset.
If that sounds like your world, book a demo — and bring a planset.
